| | I played twice at The Cannery this week (Wednesday and Thursday) noon from 11:30am to 2:30pm. It was a great experience and I met a lot of cool people. For instance, I met John, a photographer who was originally from Hawaii and played guitar for Elvis when he was in the army! He took some photos for me and I look forward to receiving them in my e-mail sometime soon!
I also jammed with Daniel, a jazz saxophonist who happened to chance on my set. He works at the nearby music store (Lark In The Morning) and was on a break. We talked for a while and then he suggested for us to jam on one song. It was really fun - particularly because I just started my set and it was a great way to start off my Thursday.
In gear talk, I just got a Roland Cube Street amp which is what I used for my set at The Cannery. It was light enough for me to carry from home to the venue by using public transportation (subway - BART and via a connecting MUNI bus). I'm currently in gear buying mode - might get one or two more pedals before I head back to Malaysia in December. Choices.. Plus, it doesn't help that the neighborhood music store carries ZVex pedals! Not that I can afford them but it sure is tempting just to walk a few blocks and get one. Still, yes, can't afford one now - so might get some other pedals I was checking out.
Well, back to gigging news:
Today, I'm playing there again at The Cannery from 2:45pm until 5:45pm! It's a
Saturday so I look forward to meet more people and make new friends! Will blog about that and this week's earlier gig at Brainwash in the next post. I leave you with this video that Shelley recorded of me performing 'Antartika' at The Cannery. Enjoy!
