| | Some things that I got from the workshop:
From Wolfgang:
1. When you play something that you hear, it sounds refined. This is not the case when you're playing from your fingers (patterns etc.) This is why Wolfgang loves Keith Jarrett's playing - because Keith always plays what he hears.
2. Trust the process - meaning if you're practicing something you like, (and according to Wolfgang, you must always practice things that you like) the results will come in time. It's just that things take time.
3. On how he gets lines, chords, ideas etc. - Just by playing and immersing himself in the sound and finding what sounds good (or otherwise) over a chord or sound.
4. In the end, everyone's being (personality, self) comes out in the music.
Overheard after the workshop:
"It's a pressure playing with you Mick!.. (laughs)" - Wolfgang Muthspiel
----- Will blog again soon.
Till later, Az
